SGI Pro64

SGI Pro64 is a suite of optimizing compiler development tools for Linux Intel Itanium TM systems. The Suite include C, C++, and Fortran90/95 compilers which conform to the IA-64 Linux ABI and API standards.

For developers interested in preparing their applications for Linux/IA-64 prior to the availability of systems, the Pro64 Compiler suite is compatible with the Hewlett Packard Native User Environment .

Pro64 Tutorial Program

CAPSL Pro64 team is working with the SGI team to prepare a series of Pro64 tutorials. The first tutorial, entitled "An introduction to the SGI Pro64 Compiler Infrastructure", will be delivered at the International Conference on Parallel Architecture and Compilation Techniques (PACT2000) to be held at Philadelphia, Oct. 15-19, 2000.

CAPSL and Prof. Guang R. Gao

Prof. G.R. Gao has over 20 years of experience in research and teaching computer architecture and compiler technology. After receiving a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (1986), he was on the faculty of the School of Computer Science at McGill University from 1987-1996, where he was the founder and a leader of the Advanced Compiler, Architecture and Parallel System Group (ACAPS).

Currently, Prof. Gao is a Full Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at University of Delaware, where he established the Computer Architecture and Parallel System Laboratory (CAPSL)

Prof. Gao is an Associate Editor of IEEE Transaction of Computer and a Distinguished Visitor of IEEE Computer Society.

Over the past five years, Prof. Gao has been involved in joint research with SGI’s compiler group on topics including, loop scheduling, software pipelining, register allocation, and other related areas.

CAPSL Pro64 Team

CAPSL Pro64 compiler team consists of a group of enthusiastic, skilled, and dedicated compiler researchers (postdocs, students and visiting scientists).

In close association with SGI’s compiler group, the CAPSL compiler team has been conducting research on several generations of SGI compilers including the SGI MIPSPro and the SGI Pro64 compilers.

Mission of CAPSL Pro64 Team

Working cooperatively with SGI’s Pro64 Team, our mission is:

To lead an education/training program to facilitate the dissemination and application of the SGI Pro64 technology by academia and industry;
To pioneer research activities involving the SGI Pro64 Compiler;
To develop an effective service infrastructure to serve the SGI Pro64 user community in the implementation and adaptation of the SGI compiler for their specific needs.
