Withing you a Merry Christmas & a Very Happy New Year!

Highlights of Gao Family in Year 2001

Nick graduated from UPenn Law and received his JD degree in May 2001. He took NY Bar exam in July and was informed the result in the might of Nov. 22 - one day before the Thanksgiving (What a set up!) - HE PASSED! Now he works for "Davis Polk & Wardwell", a law firm in New York City.

Nick traveled back to Asia and spent six weeks in Beijing, Shanghai, Wuhan, Three Gorges, Korea and Japan during the summer vacation. He enjoyed it very much, but the big question to Mom is that what made him most excited - traditional Chinese food? Homeland sentiments? Or just the sexy oriental girls? :)

When the Sept. 11's attack happened so many relatives, friends called and emailed us asking Nick's safety. We deeply touched and moved. We deeply thank everyone who loves Nick so much!

Guang Rong and Institute of Computing Technology at Chinese Academy of Sciences joint formed a Compiler Research Lab. in Beijing. Hope the ICT and CAPSL will develop a regular exchange and complementary program.

Led by President Chen Wei, a delegation of six visited UD this past March. They met with Provost Schiavelli, International Office Director Dr. Mark Huddleston, Chairwoman of HES Dept. Dr. Susan Hall and Past-Chairman of HES Dept. Dr. David Barlow. They visited UD campus, libraries, student centers, etc. They also visited Washington DC, NY city, Philadelphia, Baltimore, and of course, Atlantic City. :)

We have had two new members to our family. Ms. Qu Yi and her daughter Meng-Meng joint us from October. Meng-Meng plays piano in a super level. She passed the highest level for amateurs in China. Her music floating inside our house, outside around the neighborhood, which has given our life more taste and more enjoyments. Nonetheless, She is very brave to teach old lady - Peggy playing piano. Started from " | 12 34 | 56 7 | …" What a task! But you never know, we will report the progress in our next year's annual report. :)

Guang Rong and Peggy went back to China in this past July. Since summer 1993, it's been eight long years to go back again. China, especially Beijing has changed unbelievable! With the winning bid for 2008 Olympics, Beijing has started its significant 20 billion re-makeover project. I am proud to say Beijing will be the number one city in the world.

We had chance to meet our relatives, friends and enjoyed delicious Chinese food EVERYDAY and EVERY MEAL.
